Worshipful Company of Shipwrights Banquet (2018)

October 29, 2018:

Tom Hiddleston was a guest at the Annual Banquet of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights held at the Mansion House in London. The Worshipful Company of Shipwrights is an ancient livery company  of the City of London with strong links to maritime and shipping professions. The group also runs a charity encouraging children to get involved in the maritime world.

A look at the invitation and programme for the event.

Tom has spoken frequently in interviews about being descended from shipbuilders in Scotland. He wrote about his grandfather in Harper's Bazaar, "My grandfather was a shipbuilder who moved with the industry to live in a bungalow in Sunderland. he would give ma five pound note and a packet of Mint Imperials whenever I saw him". He also had a great-uncle, Tom Hiddleston, who worked as a plater before volunteering for the Highland Howitzers during WWI. Sadly Tom's great-uncle was shot during the Battle of Somme and died of an infection while in the hospital.

Tom wore a poppy at the 2016 Evening Standard Theatre Awards which honors those who have died in war.

Fashion:

TTTTTTAAAAAIIIIIIIILLLLLLSSSSS!!! The dress code for the banquet was Evening Dress and Tom Hiddleston did not disappoint. He pulled out the full white-tie look! There's not enough detail to make a 100% certain ID but each time we have seen Tom in this attire previously (Vanity Fair, Met Gala) he was wearing Ralph Lauren Purple Label.

  1. Hi, Marlena/Hiddlesfashion -

First - hope you are doing well! (I know you’ve posted in the past about chemo kicking your butt…All done? I really hope it worked!)

Second: I have viewed, heard and read oodles and oodles of Hiddles interviews, and have never come across Tom talking about ship builders in his background. Is there a particular interview somewhere you could point me to, in which he mentions it?

Third: are you going to ACE ComicCon in Arizona in January? I missed meeting you and saying hi in Chicago; perhaps I might run into you in Arizona...?

  2. as for the rest of your questions. Thank you and I don't know yet if I can go to Arizona, I have to get permission from my doctors to fly. Thankfully Chicago was in driving distance.
