Kong: Skull Island Premiere in Japan (2017)

March 15, 2017:

The Kong: Skull Island promotional our served up a lot of firsts for Tom Hiddleston. The beginning of March saw Tom's first ever premiere and official event in Mexico. Eleven days later, it was Japan's opportunity to finally be Hiddlestoned in person.

Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson took over the Toho Cinema in Tokyo which is home to the famous Godzilla head. But for the premiere - is was Kong who reigned King over their shared MonsterVerse.

They were joined on stage by Gackt and Sasaki, who voiced Tom and Brie's characters for the Japanese dubbed version of the film.

You can watch highlights from the red carpet and interviews below. Tom Hiddleston greeted the crowd in Japanese - because Tom Hiddleston. When asked about his impressions of Japan Tom said:

"Everybody's so kind and friendly, and the food here is delicious. I've had some sushi and sashimi. And I'm also very excited to be standing beneath Godzilla."

Filed under my random thoughts category: Tom and Sam seriously look like retired boy band members about to announce their comeback tour.

Tom with the solo: 🎵 Please don't go girl. You would ruin my whole world. 🎵

🎵Tell me you'll stay. Never, ever go away 🎵

All together now. 🎵I love you. I guess I always will. And girlllllllllllllllllllll. You're my best friend. You're my love within. I just want you to know. That I will always love you. 🎵

Great job fellas! PS: Don't ask me why I chose New Kids on the Block - it's just the first song that popped in my head when I saw the pictures. Also, if you have no idea who that is, please watch this video. And this video. And especially this video

The real brotherly love continued after the premiere when Tom shared a selfie with Sam on his instagram:

"We had fun in Tokyo introducing #kongskullisland. My first time in Japan. Thank you to everyone who came out to say hello!"

Fashion:

Somehow Tom Hiddleston always wears the best suits for premieres in Asia. Which is such a shame because these events never get the same amount of coverage and it's always very hard to find quality pictures. And this suit deserves some all the pictures! This pin dot double-breasted Gucci suit was hands down my favorite outfit of the Kong press tour!

  • Gucci New Signoria Wool Suit, $2,750. similar style, different fabric.
  • Gucci Silk Satin Tie, $200
