Evening Standard Theatre Awards (2014)

November 30, 2014:

A much slimmer and dark haired Tom Hiddleston attended the Evening Standard Theatre Awards at the Palladium in London. Tom was nominated as Best Actor for his role in Coriolanus. Tom was in the middle of filming I Saw the Light and had lost a considerable amount of weight to play the country singer Hank Williams.

Tom posed for photographs on the red carpet with Benedict Cumberbatch, Anna Wintour, Christopher Bailey, and Gillian Anderson.

It was well worth the trip from Louisiana since Tom Hiddleston took home the Best Actor Award - presented to him by Helen Mirren. In his speech said that the award made him feel very proud to be in London and a part of the theatre.

In his winners interview elaborated more on how proud he was and how Coriolanus challenged him as an actor.

After the party is the after party... and Tom had a lot to celebrate with Damian Lewis, Helen McCroy, Dominic West, and Bee Shaffer.

Tom Hiddleston was also featured in the Theatre Awards edition of Evening Standard Magazine. Tom revealed his pre-show superstition: Before each performance of Othello at the Donmar in 2007, I'd run up and down the fire escape like a madman. It got the heart rate going, and I liked the comfort of knowing Covent Garden was alive and well outside while the play went up indoors. A similar routine is seen in the bts Coriolanus video

Fashion:

Tom Hiddleston was King of the award show, wearing a Queen: McQueen that is. He looked like a classic gentleman in a custom Alexander McQueen shawl collar tuxedo. There was a touch of edge to his look with a skull embroidered bow tie.
