BAFTA Film Gala (2015)

February 5, 2015:

BAFTA launched it's inaugural Film Gala Dinner at their London headquarters, 195 Piccadilly. More than £250,000 was raised to support BAFTA's Give Something Back campaign to support young people from all backgrounds as they enter the film, television, and games industries.

About Give Something Back

Give Something Back is a BAFTA driven campaign with the aim of connecting young people with some of the best film, TV and game makers, who will help inspire and guide their careers in the industries. BAFTA want to support emerging talent from all walks of life to use their creative skills in a career within the moving image. Initiatives include mentoring, scholarships, masterclasses and in-school talks. The campaign already works with a range of partners and schools such as the BFI Academy, STEMNET, Speakers For Schools, Into Film and IdeasTap and in 2014 delivered activity in 23 schools and clubs nationwide, reaching approximately 6,000 young people. Full details of the campaign, and how to contribute, are available at www.bafta.org/about/giving.

Tom Hiddleston served on the Honorary Committee for the event along with future The Night Manager co-star Olivia Colman, Emilia Fox, Julie Walters, and more.

I have no idea what he said to Julie here but this picture is hilarious.

Tom turned emcee to assist with the auctions. Some of the lots included tickets to the BAFTA or BAFTA TV Awards, a set visit to Downton Abbey, a portrait session with Greg Williams and other cool items. The top selling item was a private screening of SPECTRE that went for £20,000.

Kit Harington, Joe Dempsie, and Natalie Dormer represented Game of Thrones and all sat at the same table.

Superman, Henry Cavill, was also there.

Fashion:

I've been having an argument with myself over what Tom Hiddleston wore to this event. At first I thought he was wearing the suit from the Telegraph Magazine photoshoot. And then I realized that the lapels were different. I looked at Tom's suits from 2013/2014 and again I couldn't find any suits that matched. This is not a guy who would bust out a brand new suit for an event like this! So, I went all the back to 2011 and saw a very similar look at the Thor premiere in LA. Same notch lapel. Same jetted pockets. Same crease front trousers. Obviously a plain black suit looks like a plain black suit.... but I feel like Tom Hiddleston is definitely the type of person who would dust off a four year old suit that he wore to his first major premiere and deliberately wear it to an event supporting emerging talent.
